Scott Hicks, founder and Chief Marketing Strategist of Ballyhoo Digital, helps put his clients on the map using a combination of SEO, paid search advertising, email marketing, and more.
One of his core promises to the business owners he works with is that marketing should bring in more than it costs, and if something’s not working, he'll pivot. But in order to demonstrate the ROI of his agency’s campaigns, he needs reliable call attribution data.
Enter CallRail — Ballyhoo’s call tracking provider of choice.
If you're serious about being a good digital marketing agency, you need to be serious about attribution. And you can't be serious about that unless you have call tracking.
Read on to find out how Scott leverages CallRail’s call tracking, and why it’s so critical to his business — and his customers’ businesses.
Tell us about Ballyhoo Digital?
We've been in business for about 11 years. We serve clients all over the country in a number of different industries. We really want to make sure that we're going to be a good fit for our clients and more of a partner rather than just an agency.
Why did you choose CallRail?
I had used some other call tracking software in the past and having the ability to track calls and sources really fits nicely with one of the primary things that we rely on in our business model — providing the best, the most accurate ROI we can for the services that we provide for our clients.
How does your team use Call Tracking?
The primary thing is making sure that we understand where the calls are coming from on the day-to-day. We'll check CallRail to see which campaigns of ours are working the best. We can look at any different number of metrics within that.
Depending on the client, we measure first calls and those are the ones we look at. Some of our other clients, their sales cycle can take a little longer, they've got much more expensive goods and services that they provide. So then we look at who's calling back and how long they're on the phone.
Why should agencies use CallRail?
Unless you're asking people, how did you hear about us or where did you get this, or you’re offering some sort of coupon code or something like that, it gets more challenging to have a really good grasp of where all your good leads are coming from, or where your good calls are coming from.
I'm always gonna advocate for that sort of transparency and simplicity. So if you're serious about being a good digital marketing agency, you need to be serious about attribution. And you can't be serious about that unless you have call tracking.
How does CallRail help you grow and retain clients?
It helps us because it's another tool in the toolkit. When I talk to prospective clients and I talk to our clients, I lay it out. We do this, we do that. We track your calls. We do all the analytics and everything like that. It gives them a sense of security and confidence that we're going to provide for them the best possible information we can.
How has CallRail exceeded your expectations?
Customer service. You guys are amazing. I think that we've kind of come to a point these days where we expect mediocre customer service, but you guys have always been right on time whenever I've needed any assistance with anything or to talk to anybody. At CallRail it's always been stellar.
