Report Conversions Based on Call Length

by Andy Powell
January 31, 2014

Filtering Calls by Length For Better Reporting

Since the day we launched CallRail, one question we’ve heard consistently has been “can I identify phone call conversions based on the length of the call”. To those of you who are disciplined enough to quickly hang up on telemarketers in the pursuit of clean data and unwasted time, your day has arrived!

Filtering conversions by length is useful if you know that it takes a certain amount of time to have a productive conversation with a new customer — you may not want to count the conversion if the call is too short to be useful.

How Does It Work?

You can now configure your CallRail account to only report calls to Google Analytics, KISSmetrics, and other third-party analytics tools if the call exceeds a certain length; such as 30 seconds, 1 minute, or 5 minutes, all through your company’s edit page.

Will Short Calls Disappear Completely?

Of course not! All of your phone calls are still available in the web dashboard, and also will be reported via the webhooks and the API. Calls reported via the webhooks and the API include call length data, so you can easily filter the calls in your own system.

Need a Hand Getting Started?

If you’d like to take advantage of this new capability but have questions before taking the plunge, our support team is ready to help!

We’re working hard to bring you the world’s best call tracking platform, and we’d love to hear what you think.
